So it is official! We have a first male gumiho in the history of Korean dramas and the role goes to “Lee Dong Wook” (Strangers From Hell). The actor has confirmed for the role along with Jo Ba Ah (My Strange Hero) taking the female lead role in upcoming urban fantasy Korean drama “The Tale Of Nokdu” (or “Chasing The Nine-Tailed Fox”).
“The Tale Of Nokdu” will tell the story of a male Gumiho (Lee Dong Wook) who was once a living god of Baekdudaegan Mountain Range and now he does a job that deals with something between this world and the underworld. A strong and competitive TV broadcast producer Nam Ji-ah (Jo Bo Ah) tries to hunt it down.
Besides the fact we have Lee Dong Wook playing the first male Gumiho ever, the pairing with Jo Bo Ah also excite me to look forward to this drama. Jo Bo Ah will also be starring in upcoming drama “Secret” with Park Hae Jin which is likely to release before “The Tale Of Gumiho”.
Kdrama “The Tale Of Gumiho” is expected to release sometimes in 2020 on tvN.
Corrected: It turns out that Lee Seung Gi played the Gumiho role first. He was half gumiho and half human in Korean drama “Gu Family Book”. It released in 2013 with Lee Seung Gi and Bae Suzy as the main leads (Thanks to fans 😊 )
